Deceased Name: Richard E. Burton

SPRINGFIELD - Richard E. Burton, 66, died Sept. 26, 2005, at Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow.

He was born June 11, 1939, in Springfield, the son of Elwin and Mabel (Miller) Burton.

He graduated from Springfield High School.

Mr. Burton served in the armed forces for a brief time and was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service at the Springfield post office.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose No. 679 in Springfield.

He enjoyed baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Burton, of Woodbridge, N.J.

Visiting hours will be private.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Cederholm, pastor of North Springfield Baptist Church, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
