Deceased Name: Douglas Gilcris
PROCTORSVILLE - Douglas Gilcris, 59, died Thursday at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Junction.
He was born Nov. 28, 1939, in Hardwick, son of Lester and Ruth (Barrows) Gilcris.
He attended grammar school in Proctorsville and graduated from Springfield High School in 1957.
Mr. Gilcris worked for many years with his brother at Gilcris Lumber Yard in Proctorsville and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961.
He married Sharon Whitehouse in 1962 in Windsor, Conn.
Mr. Gilcris was a member of the Ballard-Hobard American Legion Post 36 in Ludlow. He attended the United Methodist Church in Proctorsville for many years.
He had enjoyed both hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his mother of Proctorsville; a son, Clayton N. Gilcris of Windsor, Conn.; a daughter, Heather Kittell of Essex Junction; three brothers, Richard, Jeff and Larry Gilcris, all of Proctorsville; a sister, Joyce Puhalla of Fort Meyers, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at noon in Hillcrest Cemetery in Proctorsville by the Rev. William Scherwerts.
There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Adams-Gendron Funeral Home in Ludlow.
