Edward Prinsen

SPRINGFIELD - Edward L. "Ted" Prinsen, 60, died Dec. 12, 2003, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born May 17, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Raymond and Martha (Locke) Prinsen. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1961 and the Culinary Institute of America in Connecticut in 1963. Mr. Prinsen served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked as a chef at the Hartness House for many years and more recently at Royal's 121 Hearthside Restaurant in Rutland for many years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 26 in White River Junction.

Mr. Prinsen was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include a son, Edward Prinsen III of Southbridge, Mass.; two daughters, Shelina Lord of Haverhill, Mass., and Jessica Bessette of Southbridge, Mass.; his mother, Martha Bibens of Englewood, Fla.; a sister, Kathy Fenwick of Pickens, S.C.; two brothers, Karl Prinsen of El Cajon, Calif., and Clayton Prinsen of East Swanzy, N.H.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Cheryl (Gordon) Prinsen.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Davis Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Patience Stoddard, pastor of Unitarian Universalist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Amsden Cemetery in Reading at a later date. There will be no calling hours. .

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
