Deceased Name: Richard W. Lucius Sr.
SPRINGFIELD - Richard W. Lucius Sr., 62, died Jan. 4, 2006, at Springfield Hospital.
He was born Nov. 23, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Glendon and Vivian (Cross) Lucius.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1963.
Mr. Lucius later served in the Vermont National Guard for several years.
He was employed at Fellows Gear Shaper Corp. for over 36 years as a machinist.
He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Bishop) Lucius of Springfield, whom he married Feb. 23, 2004; a son, Richard Lucius Jr. of Springfield; a daughter, Melinda Magill of Springfield; a stepson, Jonathan Garland of Springfield; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert Lucius of Dracut, Mass., and Bruce Lucius of Portsmouth, N.H.; two sisters, Judy Merriam and Kathy Cota, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Thomas) Lucius in 2001; and a brother, David Lucius.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at the Davis Chapel, with the Rev. Floyd McIntyre, pastor of Advent Christian Church in North Springfield, officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in Oakland Cemetery.
