I was tagging along with Matt Jerabek to some party on a Saturday night when we were Seniors. Grzeskowiak was there. As usual, he was not saying much. I remember him being quiet for the most part, but I really did not know him that well. But on this night, he was our hero. Some guy, military and a few years older than us with a shaved head, was bragging about how strong and muscular he was. We were all getting a little sick of listening, including Grzeskowiak. He started challenging everyone to arm wrestling matches to prove his manhood, strength, whatever. Quietly, Grzeskowiak walked over and took his challenge. About 10 seconds later he slammed this guys hand into the table. Jerabek and I just cracked up laughing. "Wow, you are really strong!" he exclaimed obviously embarrassed. Grzeskowiak said nothing to him in return. But as he walked by Jerabek and I, he said with a smile, "Man, that guy is full of it". We gave him a high five. The guy was officially shut up the rest of the evening. Again, I did not know Matt Grzeskowiak that well. We were never really friends. But occasionally when I saw him at school we would joke about that night. He always came across as a great guy to me. I was shocked to read he passed away.

20 years-- A memorial to my big brother Matt
By Donna Grzeskowiak Ward
It's been 20 years since my older brother Matt and cousin Scott died in a car accident. I realize my heart will always be broken over his death. I still wonder what he'd look like now and what his life would've been like. I still miss him and always will. Hopefully till that one day when we meet again....
