I remember the morning my brother called me to tell me Larry had been killed in a car crash, one of the saddest days of my life. Larry and I had worked together the summer after our senior year, some fun times for sure ...
Greg, I found out about Larry's death the day after his funeral, in two letters no less. One from Mike Erwin and the other from my dad. We were out on a field exercise and the Red Cross said that they couldn't contact me because Larry wasn't an immediate family member. We had some fun times together. Remember when we had his uncle's Toyota? It was Larry , myself, you and Westhues. We were out jumping railroad tracks and driving through the baseball fields at McNair park. Maybe this isn't something to be proud of, but we sure had fun then.
Seems like it was just last year that I went to Larry's funeral. It was one of the saddest things I had ever been to. I remember Brian Judd for some reason, he was really upset as we left the church. I was out of it for weeks after that. Still kind of get choked up.
Larry was one of the first people I got to know when I started at Duchesne. When he got his driver’s license we carpooled most of our sophomore year. He only lived about a 1 mile from me. He was a really fun guy, I don’t ever remember Larry being down about much. Nothing ever bothered him and he was always upbeat.
Did Larry come back to school after having been in drug rehab? I think it was him and I remember his bravery at facing his fellow students after such a hard, personal battle.
I didn't know Larry really but have always admired his bravery.
