How well I remember Sr. Mary Basil. One time I asked permission to go to the lavatory. She just looked at me and did not speak. I turned around and walked back to my desk. She then said "Silence gives consent."

When she wrote on the blackboard she would underline in scallops.

Sister Basil always had that slight smile on her face, didn't say anything when you did something you were not suppose to do, but you knew that she caught you.

For example, I had a classic comic in my Geograpy Book.  Sister tapped me on my head with her pen, and just looked at me with her bemused look.  I immediately took the comic book out and she just continued to walk down the aisle.

I have had good memories of her as well as St. Joan of Arc.

I had the privilege being taught by Sister Basil in the eighth grade.  I still think of her and remember her fondly.
