Florence Lederman

Florence J. Lederman
DOB: 1-31-1926

Florence J. Lederman, 84, died peacefully at her home on April 27, 2010 in the arms of her loving family.

Flo was born on January 31, 1926 in Hamtramck, Michigan; the daughter of John and Natalie Gryskiewicz. She was a graduate of the Hamtramck High School.

Flo was employed through the years as a school secretary. She worked at the St. Peter the Apostle School in Harper Woods (1980-84) and later the St. Joan of Arc School in St. Clair Shores (1984-96) where she retired from in 1996 after 18 years of service. She also was the interim secretary at Our Lady Queen of Peace School in Harper Woods and St. Matthew School in Detroit.

Flo's hobby was taking care of other people. She loved everything about her family and they were always first in her life. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and an occasional trip to a casino. She volunteered at St. John Hospital in Detroit after her retirement.

Flo will be fondly remembered by parents and students alike for her warm, maternal manner. She was rarely seen sitting at her desk. Rather, she was always on-the-go, taking care of students in need, greeting parents with constant cheerfulness and helping teachers with uncooperative copiers and a host of supply needs. Flo truly stood at the center of SJA and helped every person to feel welcome, comfortable and valued!

Flo was previously married to Sylvester Brzustowicz until his unexpected death. They had two children who survive Flo, Denise Gawronski and Duane Brzustowicz. On January 2, 1970 Flo married John Lederman. Together they have a daughter, Mary E. Lederman. Also surviving is her granddaughter Angela, her sister Virginia Lewandowski, and her step-sister Barbara Farmer. She was predeceased by her grandson Duane Brzustowicz, Jr. and her parents.
