Milton Meininger - Class Of 1957 VIEW PROFILE

Milton (Milt) Anthony Meininger, Jr. February 28, 1943 ~ June 30, 2011. Beloved husband, father, brother and friend, died peacefully at his home. Milt will be greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Joy (Amoroso) of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. Milt was a wonderful father to, Steven Michael, and wife, Laura (Miyamura) of Gilroy, CA, and Thomas Milton of San Jose, CA. He was a loving brother to James Anthony and wife Sharon (Allan) of Clearwater, FL, Judith (Mario) Cudini, and Nephew Robert Meininger Cudini, of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, and Diane Mary of Naples, FL.

The Meininger’s emigrated from Germany in the 1830's and became farmers in what was Grosse Pointe Township. They owned the farm for more than 100 years. The Meininger farm was located where Defer School is now located. The Meininger’s were among the first parishioners at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church. Many relatives are buried in St. Paul Cemetery. Meininger’s are also descended from the late Governor Alex J. Groesbeck.

Milt's parents, Milton A. Sr. and Elva Amelia (Sanders), grew up in Detroit where Milt was born. The family soon moved to Grosse Pointe Woods where Milt attended St. Juliana and St. Joan of Arc Elementary Schools, and Austin Catholic Preparatory High School. A week after receiving his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Detroit in 1966, Milt married Joy.

Milt and Joy lived briefly in Dallas, TX. where he worked at Texas Instruments. They moved to W. Lafayette, IN, and had their two sons. After obtaining his Masters and PhD Degrees from Purdue University, the family moved to St. Louis, MO where Milt worked at McDonnell Douglas Corporation before moving to San Jose, CA. where Milt worked at National Semiconductor, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. Milt retired from IBM in 2001 after working there for 22 years. Milt and Joy then settled in Lincoln, CA.

Milt loved working on his family's genealogy, keeping up with tech issues, doing his work out, walking their dog Annie, and visiting with family and friends. Private services will be held. Milt was a dedicated ethical vegetarian, and respected all life. Milt was probably the most likeable person you ever met.
