This is one of the hardest death I have to deal with. This hurt more than anythig. He call me on the same day he die and I never get to speak to him because I was in class, and he die later that day. It is over 22 year and I am still crying for my team mate and very good friend. RIP peace my brother.
When he died we were in Florida at a track meeting when the new hit us, but the funny part of it when i got home to munro a lady was just in the process of breaking the new to my parents that i was died, on reaching school monday morning all the kids were running away screaming while some were touching to see if it was really me and thats why i never spoke about until now, i wrote this with tears in my eyes because i am remembering it like yesterday. paul was a strong believer in his god and so again his soul was in the right place, i tell you the track team has some powerful man of god in it.may his soul rest in peace.
I was actully shocked when I heard of it - I was living NYC at the time. We were classmates in 9h - came in thru GNAT same year. He was great guy! I remember we use to call him "Spur Tree". There was a joke that he use to run up Spur Tree for training. May his sould rest in peace !
The track team know that I was the first to leave in 1984 than Paul (Philly) in 1985. Paul join me at Arizona Central Arizona College in 1985. We were roommates for one year. Then I transfer to Arizona State University. The plan was for Paul to join me at Arizona State after his graduation a year later. Paul did not graguate and had tranfser to Div II College back east in Philly. I was at track meet in Oregon in 1987 when I read of Pauls's death in US Today Newpaper. It was very difficult for me and I wonder at time if Paul would still be with us if he had came to Arizona State with me. I stay in contact with Paul's mother over the year and every time I go to Jamaica I have to stop and see her and put something in her hand and visit Paul Grave site. Paul is very specail to the STETHS family and his distance running will always will be remember. Paul was one of kind. Looking forward to our reunion in Heaven. We Love you Paul AKA Philly.
