Donna Headley (Foster (GFoS)) (1978)

Mr. Pottinger, It is as though I still hear you belching out "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah", during devotions. I develop a love for and found meaning in that song because of you. You were truly a Man of God, who taught us the meaning of "Work & Integrity".
May Your Soul Rest in Peace, and Light Perpetually Shines on Your Path.

John Pottinger o/c BUGS. The greatest Principal on earth.

How can the STETHS family say thanks to someone who was so dear,

Who taught us so many things without a speck of fear.

and when at times we were in doubt,

John Pottinger was there to bail us out.

Who was it that drives "Pidim" home in fine style?

and got lost in a community for many, many miles.

Who was it that guards us like a Ranger

or protects us from so many dangerous strangers?

Let me tell you all without waiting any longer,

it was non other than John Pottinger.

Mr. Pottinger.  A  Principal extraordinaire.    Total disciplinarian.  He was a great leader. A man who had transformed STETHS into a super-school, thus making it more recognizable and one of the leading Technical High Schools in Jamaica. Today, STETHS still rides high on some of his remarkable achievements.  Some of these are the construction of the Sports complex (Pavilion) development  of the farm, building of  Dental Clinic.  These made us Past Students proud of our school.

Mr Pottinger, You were the potter and we were the clay. You ensured that we were prepared to face what the world had to offer. Your life lessons will never be forgotten.

"The Value of a man is not measured by what he does for himself to make his life easier, But, measured by what he does for others to make their lives easier."
