Additional Comments:

Thank you for providing information on the funeral arrangements.  I did not want to distribute anything until we had more details. I would like to express my personal condolences both as president of the STETHS Alumni Association, New York chapter and as a friend.  Gary was always a gentleman, had the best wishes of STETHS at heart, and maintained ties across all alumni year groups.  He will be sorely missed.

Colville and myself graduated in 1972. I remembered us doing Geography during our 3rd and 4th years. At the end of the Paper 1 GCE we were comparing notes and while I messed up on the Paper 1 he went through it with a breeze. We e-mailed each other a year or two ago regarding meeting up at the S/Florida reunion/banquet, and he said he would not be able to make it as one of his daughters was getting married that year. We have not seen each other since we compared Gergraphy test notes in 1972. On behalf of my family and colleagues I express sincere condolences to his family and friends. May God guide his spirit as he goes through his next life, and may God bless and guide his earthly family and friends. Colville will be missed by all who have met him or knew of him otherwise. Lyle Young (Buddah '72).

I attended the memorial service for Gary on Mothers Day, May 10th, and my heart was touched by the outpouring of love and fond memories, as well as the number of past students who attended the service. Stay strong, Georgia!

April 28, 2009 at 2:00 a.m. was the day a light dimmed and my hubby went to sleep. It was like yesterday. I missed the fun things we did together, bike riding, travelling to work, trips, church on Sabbaths, praying, spirited bible discussions, hanging with family and friends. He was my hero, intelligent, humble and unassuming. I will always miss him. Sleep on my beloved. On  April 28, 2010 he would have been 56.

It is unbelievable that a year has already passed since we said goodbye to our beloved leader and friend - Collville (Gary) Barham.

With Gary's demise, Friends of STETHS International, Inc. suffered an irreparable loss, and I wonder if we, as an organization, will ever recover.  Although members remain in touch, we do lack the dedicated leadership that Gary brought to the Association.  As I said in our tribute at his memorial service a year ago: "To say that he will be sorely missed does no justice to the depth and enormity of our loss."  This, my friends, is the sad reality.

God bless his memory and all the loved ones he has left behind.

Wow it is now 2 years (4/28/09).    Who can forget how involved he was for STETHS 40th anniversary celebration.   On this the eve of STETHS 50th anniversary, I am sure my late husband would have been involved in the things leading up to the June weekend celebrations.  He would have been dragging everyone he knew, including his reluctant wife, to get involved. He is certainly missed by family, friends and Santa Cruz community. Memories of him will live on in ours hearts.  STETHS on this your 50th anniversary, I will leave you with these words I found in an article he wrote for a magazine ------"Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth! One Love! One Heart! The place to go when you want to feel alright!"
