I retired from Kaiser Permanente Hospital after 40 years, 8 years in Medical, x-ray files and EKG and 32 years doing EEGs. That was March of 2009. We spent a lot of time with our daughter, Terri and her husband, Guy and son, Dylan at the beach house we bought together in Lincoln CIty, OR.

....... Not there as much now as Dylan is 26 and doesn't need a chaperone anymore !   Dylan goes to the Wednesday night antique car show with us all summer... when it isn't 90 degrees !!   We take the 67 Mustang Fastback, green like in Bullet, and sometimes  Dylan takes the '67 Black convertible .. ...Oh, And, he has a girlfriend, McKaila, and they seem to be quite happy with active lives, camping, going to the beach house, travel... she volunteers at a horse camp for special needs kids....

The  Beach house  with Dylan and friends was Fun while it lasted tho.. Dylan and his friends used our basement as their Friday, overnight location, playing video games, or jogging the very short distance from school for a pizza lunch... No... I didn't fall for the story that they had the afternoon off, but they tried... I drove them right to the front door...

I haven't been on any big trips in the last 10 years... Terri and I did several trips to France, Holand, Italy, Spain ... Australia... and Hawaii... Maui, as she has a little studio there north of Lahaina.

I spent a month in Holland with a retired work friend, who was from den Hague, so that was a great trip, as it seemed everyone wanted to speak to the English speaker with the Dutch accent !  Coby and I visited Maastricht by train,  stayed several nights, and visited the American Cemetery there.

What a Powerful and Emotional visit that was... Not just the sight of it, a tractor plowing the open field on the back side of the cemetery, so many identical crosses, flowers everywhere and flags waving, but the people there, a few Americans, but mostly Dutch and European travellers.

At the entrance, we became surrounded by a group of students, headed for their 60 passenger bus.. They were So Happy to meet Americans, to talk to the Dutch lady from America, and practice their English.  The sincerety of these kids and their teachers was impressive. These kids know how their country was saved with the help of America and its soldiers, were grateful, and were ready to meet us, 70 years later and Say Thanks ! ... Coby remembers the police coming to their apartment during  German occupation, and knowing not to point out where her Dad was hiding... Too bad their bus had to stay on its schedule.

I'm going to Maui after our class reunion to stay with Terri for a week or so...might meet their local Maui  friends again.... some who lost their homes to the Lahaina fire last August.. but that could be too hard on all of us.

Going back to first grade, I started  school with my familiar friends from St.F. Methodist Church, right across from the beautiful, 3 story brick school that my Mom and Grandmother went to... Mike Wyatt and Mike Hansen, Lanny, Larry, Doug Mc Dougal, and Ginger... Janice Thompson went to the Baptist church and I knew her from living nearby on the road to Bethel. You feel safe with your friends around... but nothing could protect us from Mrs Longworth..!

I wish I had Mikes recall on teachers names... and what went on in class... But I'm enjoying his great descriptions here on our site...The site asks me  if I allow these entires, so I did have to repost them to make them show up, so NO...   I had nothing to do with his 3 stories,... I just located them into the Forum...I plan to keep adding to my notes here... If anyone else will give us some of their memories from school... I will post them here.. it just isn't immediate after you write them..

I've been trying to see how this site works for this little summary of our years out of school... Some of us wrote more information on our private pages, and I did that right when we started...

Well... It's good to be able to write a brief bit of our past... we have people we see a lot, even after all these years, and others we see only at reunions or the more recent class lunches, we've had at  Hidden Haven, (  which as been a very nice location, with good food and service.)

So reading a bit of what our school friends have been doing is fun, and possibly the best way to remember ... Share a little here... You can always go back and edit..!

It is a bit complicated to write here.. I made some instructions on the previoous post. I have been adding on to this post, bit x bit, and it's easier every time... Just go to your entry, and click edit.. to add or reword what you wrote.

Don't Panic !    It's  Like doing Income Tax.. One Step at a Time....

Just hit Save at the end every time you edit...
