I remember Sheila as a quiet, sweet little girl in my 2nd grade class. One of the most important moments I ever spent with my Daddy was when he woke me the morning after Sheila died. He was so gentle that I knew something important was happening. It was my first time to know someone that died. She was missed and I think about her often when I hear stories about guns in homes where children live. We are lucky that we have no real war in our homeland - but the accidental shootings still scar a lot of people. I wish her whole family well, I'm sure they still miss her too.
I recently contacted Shiela's sister. She was ten year's old when we were in 2nd grade and Shiela died. We are working on a short story that will allow her to tell the tale of that day and what happened to her and her family afterwards.

I used to walk to school with Shiela Drake every morning and home with her every afternoon. I was thinking she was a very thin little girl with straight hair. The night she was killed my dad was called out as a pharmacist to help with emergency. He woke me up to tell me when he got home. He knew I would be very upset.
