TEHACHAPI, Calif. -James (Jim) D. Thornton, 71, of Tehachapi, passed away on June 5, 2022.
Jim was born in Abilene, Kansas, on Oct. 9, 1950, to William and Mildred Thornton. He graduated from Benton in 1968. He proudly served in the Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan.
He married Mary Hodges in 1975.
He is survived by: a daughter, Jamie Thornton; grandchildren: Reyna Halpin, Reno Hickey and Julia Kessler; great-grandchildren, Stella and Benjamin Halpin; a son, Chad Arnold of Kansas City; grandchildren, Tyler, Spencer and Andrew Arnold; siblings: Claire, Bob, Marty and Janice, all of St. Joseph.
Jim was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Thornton; parents, William and Mildred Thornton; brother, Tom Thornton; and brother-in-law, Vern. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
