John McIntyre

SALINA—John William McIntyre, 73, passed away Saturday, December 26. He was born September 5, 1947 to Gene and Teresa Blanche (Teson) McIntyre in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was their only child. He grew up with Teresa, his grandmother Louise Teson, and his stepfather, Sherman Smolly, whom he called “Dad.” He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO, with a BS in education. In 1970, he married Pamela Ann Beach. They were married for 43 years. He worked as the assistant regional manager at the Social Security office in Salina for over 30 years. He loved his cats, nature (especially the birds and squirrels in his backyard), and old movies. 

John was preceded in death by his mother Teresa, his father Gene, his stepfather Sherman, and his aunt Harriet Smolly. He is survived by Pam McIntyre of Salina and his daughter Kate McIntyre and her husband Joe Aguilar of Worcester, MA. 

Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal memorial service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Salina Education Foundation, LIFT Program, Box 797, Salina, KS, 67401.
