I only attended CB for one year. I graduated from Central in 1965. After high school I attended St. Joseph Junior College for two years, and then I went on to MU –Columbia to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education. I worked in Kansas City and St. Louis as an art teacher for 21 years (I spent 35 years in STL). While in STL I also earned a Master’s degree from Webster University, and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Saint Louis University. I became a building school administrator, and eventually Superintendent of the Wentzville School District. I retired from K-12 Education in 2003, and became an Assistant Professor at Lindenwood University in the College of Education. I left LU after five years, and took a position in the St. Louis Public Schools. I was the Executive Direct of Alternative Schools. I was there one year. We moved back to St. Joseph in 2008, and that is when I began my current position. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at the University of Missouri –St. Louis. I coordinate the Kansas City Teach For America/UMSL partnership, and I teach related courses. I am also a Rater for the Education Testing Service (ETS). I have been married to Jackie Stephens since 1972. She is from St. Louis.
