Lawrence Michael Farrington passed away peacefully at his home in Temecula after a courageous battle against cancer. Larry was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital to Robert M. and Estelle M. Farrington. He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Bayliss High School in 1969. Larry then attended the University of Central Missouri, where he received degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology. He spent the next four years in the Army where he worked as a counter-intelligence Officer. Larry was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and an Army Commendation Medal while serving our country. For the next 26 years Larry worked for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. For much of his career he was a Special Agent and retired in 2003 as the Resident Agent in Charge of USFWS, Office of Law Enforcement in Los Angeles. His daughter, Danica, was born in 1985 and for the next three decades, Larry delighted in devoting significant and honorable amounts of time to her numerous endeavors carrying drums and tubas for a high school marching, recruiting USFW friends to move a group of college friends an amazing seven times, and most importantly, providing the invaluable support, advice, and guidance needed to navigate growing up. Some of his favorite retirement activities included exploring many of the National Parks with his love, Patti, ranch trips to the Paso Robles area with his wonderful friends Bill, Cory, and Scott, attending the annual fishing tournament on the Oregon/Idaho border with his partner Jerry and other former USFW agents, visiting his Mudhen buddies Hank and Dan in San Diego, and writing Letters to the Editor. He was absolutely thrilled when his first granddaughter, Madeline, was born in January of 2020. He was able to make multiple trips to Colorado to see her despite Covid-19 and was as proud as a Grandpa could be, especially of her early throwing abilities being an avid Padres fan himself. He did remain a loyal Chargers fan to the end, even after the team moved to Los Angeles. Larry is survived by his daughter Danica (Jordan), granddaughter Madeline, soulmate Patti, brother Bob (Shari), nieces Carmen, Kelly, and Kristy, and nephews Mike and John. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice, and nephew Paul. The world has lost a truly amazing man, and he will be dearly missed by family and friends. The Allen family will never forget all he did for them, especially all of the delicious meals he prepared for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions. He was often described as the most generous, ethical, balanced, and genuine person by the majority of people who knew him, and his loved ones will carry these aspects of him with them always. A Celebration of Life honoring Larry will be held at a later date.
