Pamela J. Sumner of Mesa, AZ tragically passed away on February 1st 2011. She was born on January 30th of 1952 in St. Louis MO to her parents Frank and Alexandria Massa. She was a graduate of Hazelwood high school in 1970 and then went on to study her masters degree in speech and language therapy at Fontbonne University where she achieved her masters in 1978. She married her long time best friend and Love Robert Sumner on June 21st 1975. She loved her job as a speech therapist for 33 years. She taught in Balsz School district in Phoenix for 24 wonderful years. Fowler School district in Phoenix for 5 years, Mesa school district for 1 year until she retired in January of 2008. After a brief time she went back to work part time for Nelson Pediatric services and loved every minute of it until her tragic and sudden death. She truly adored and loved all of her students and coworkers and many of them she formed life long friendships with. She was survived by her loving husband Robert, her daughter Lauren, her grandchildren Kaleb and Kylie, her mother Alexandria Massa, Sister Phyllis Busch, and many more family members, amazing friends, and colleagues. The celebration of her life and services will be held at Word Alive Church at 319 N. 64th St. in Mesa, AZ 85205 on Monday February 7th 2011. There will be a visitation from 3-5pm with services immediately following from 5-6pm. Any memorial contributions can be sent to American Diabetes Association or flower contributions can be sent to Word Alive Church in loving memory of Pam Sumner. She was an amazing and beautiful person and will be missed by many!
