Debbie had strawberry-blonde hair and was smart and funny. She sat behind me in French III, taught by Mr. Richard Rhea. At the time, Mr. Rhea was writing a novel about "Pope Joan," a legendary female pontiff. He thought he had a good chance of getting it published. I remember Debbie joking about how we would all have to go out and buy his book. I was saddened to learn of Debbie's death.
