Thomas Forchay

Thomas J. Forchay passed away on December 10, 2011, at the age of 71.  He had been living in Minnetonka, Minnesota for many years.  Over the past three years his health slowly deteriorated and it is believed he died of general organ failure.  Tom was a resident for a brief time at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Wayzata.  Tom left behind his ex-wife, Julie Ann Forchay, two children, Michael and Jennifer, and four grandchildren, Camryn, Kevin, Cole and Coco.  He also has a sister, Patricia Forchay.  Julie and Tom were divorced in 1995; however, according to Julie, Tom kept a very close family relationship with her and their children.

Tom was a 1966 graduate of the University of Minnesota’s School of Pharmacy and was a lifelong pharmacist.  He spent 19 years with Target Stores and was one of their Pharmacy Managers for 15 years.  He owned and operated his own business (Medicine Shoppe) for 8 years and was until recently employed as a pharmacist at Snyder Pharmacy in Hopkins, Minnesota.  It was well known among Tom’s relatives and close friends that he rarely worked less than 55 hours per week, and he never intentionally stopped or retired.  Tom had several hobbies, including travel, golf, model-railroading and watching old movies, which he collected.

He was an avid supporter and planner for our class reunions and seldom missed our activities.  Our class always appreciated Tom for his expressions of joy when he knew that the next reunion planning was in the works.

The family held a private memorial service at Lakewood Cemetery which included Tom's interment.

Tom Forchay was a great friend and loved to tell stories about others from our class with whom he kept in touch.  We will never forget him, and he will be missed.

I will always how kind Tom was and how he took an interest in what others were doing.  I would run into Tom from time to time and will remember his twinkle in his eye and how dedicated he was to his job!  He will be missed.
