Berneen Rose (Rudolph)

Berneen Rose (Rudolph)

We regret to inform you of the passing of our Classmate Berneen Rose Rudolph.  She died on October 1, 2022.  Nothing is known of any recent illness nor of the cause of her death.  We do recall with great fondness seeing her at one of our recent class reunions, likely the 60th reunion, when she appeared at The Park Tavern.  She looked radiantly beautiful, and seemed to still be actively in love with life.

Berneen was a member of Mt. Zion Temple in St. Paul, MN.  A very private family service was held for Berneen on October 4, 2022, but there was no funeral or service at Mt. Zion Temple, otherwise one of their Rabbis there would have known about her death and participated in that service.  Instead, her casket was transported directly from the funeral home to Mt. Zion Cemetery (which is many miles away).  We can only assume a few family members may have been present for what they call a "drop in," when the casket is lowered into the ground.  It was known that a funeral director would have attended the burial ceremony.  One of our classmates spoke with the funeral director who attended. He said there were a few folks present, but they remained unidentified.  Minnesota law requires a funeral director to remain on site until the grave is filled in. It is known that Berneen's brother Warren and her last husband are also interred nearby.

Berneen resided at 2620 Hampshire while attending St. Louis Park High School.  Perhaps other classmates who grew up near her address at that time can recall interesting information about Berneen as she grew up.  Berneen’s parents were Ed and Sally Rose. She was the oldest of three siblings. Her youngest brother Warren (also called "Billy") died in 2010.

Berneen was married three times.  Her third husband, Burt Rudolph, died in 2007 at age 83. Berneen, according to a close classmate who knew her, preferred to marry men considerably older than she was.  She was divorced from her first and second husbands.  Friends recall that she adopted two sons while married to Alan Kasdan, who was her first husband.  She was married a second time to a gentleman named Mr. Upin.

Bereen led a very, very private life, to be sure.  She was buried even before the Rabbi at Zion Temple was made aware of her passing.  It has been very difficult to find out the details of her work life and successes, even though we have made contact with one of Berneen's closest relatives, a daughter-in-law.

You are encouraged to post a comment at the bottom of this page regarding your fond memories of her.

I am so sorry to read of Berneen's passing. We were very good friends at Lenox Elementary School and in Junior High School. I gave her piano lessons for a while at that time. I understood she had some health issues a few years ago and lived in Assisted Living.  She was a classy gal and a caring friend. I am sorry we lost touch. Fondly, Mary
