Hayes, Susan M.  Long-time publishing professional Susan M. Hayes of Arlington, Massachusetts passed away on April 5, 2014.  Susan began her publishing career in the late 1960s at ITT subsidiary Howard W. Sams/Bobbs-Merrill in Indianapolis.  In 1972, Susan joined Harvard University Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she advanced to Director of Production.  In 1984, Susan became Director of Production for Little, Brown & Comapny's Trade Division in Boston.  In 1987 Susan was the recipient of the prestigious Bookbuilders of Boston Dwiggins Award in recognition of her many contributions to publishing in New England.  In 1992, Susan set out on her own, founding Susan Hayes Enterprises, providing editorial, design and production services to authors and publishers for twenty-two years.  With inimitable style and humor, Susan was a generous and kind mentor and loyal friend with an unwavering commitment to excellence, fairness, and integrity.  Susan was an enthusiastic supporter of her alma mater, Saint Mary of the Woods College, in Terre Haute, Indiana.  Susan was a remarkable woman and will be greatly missed by her many friends within and outside the publishing community, as well as by her dogs, Sophie and Max.  Arrangments under the care of DeVito Funeral Homes, ARLINGTON.  To send an online condolence visit, www.devitofuneralhomes.com
