Ted Johnson

It must have been the frequent knocks on the head that made me forget. As the song says, "I remember it well."

What I do remember was the German teacher who pegged chalk & erasers at you in frustration. Unfortunately, he wasn't that good a shot & I sat next to you. Can't remember exactly what made him so irate, but I do remember you sitting in class reading Time magazine wrapped in a Playboy cover. I can't remember whether he was more upset when he whiped it out of your hands or when you asked for your magazine back & he discovered it wasn't Playboy.

You & I grew up in the same neighborhood--yet I don't remember the dirt roads & chickens. But i don't doubt it happened.

Hi to Brenda & keep the lights on. We'll see Garrison some time this summer.

Yep dirt. Or, maybe that was just our garage. We moved from there when I was 4. Yah, the chickens. I think it was the Hauer family and they were all gifted musicians on stringed instruments but not one guitar amongst the heathen bastards. I believe the chickens were sacrificial.

Hi Ted & Rick,

I remember the milk trucks had ice to keep thing fresh & we used to get chips of ice from him in the summer to suck on. I don't remember unpaved alleys, but I do remember the "big" hill up the alley between St Clair and Berkeley.  We used to sled down it in the winter & had to post a spotter on Finn to watchout for cars. I also remember riding my bike without a helmet, riding in the car without a seatbelt, drinking unpasturized milk & hiking by the Mississippi River without a lifejacket. It's amazing we lived this long to be part of the Class of 1963 reunionwink.

Rick,

Nancy loved your home brew when we were there 2 years ago. I'll stick with white wine, etc. etc. Have you tried Mikes Hard beverages, very refreshing. I hope some will be available at the reunion.

The beer making has gotten more radical with higher gravity and hop oriented beers. No offense Scott, but we buy Mike's Hard Variety cases from Costco for the girls.. I will drink them in an emergency.

For sure

I suggested that lawyers wear neckties so that they would be easier to spot. Maybe I'm just in too defensive a mood. But thinking about Zucco and Heleniak and ... kinda scarey. Ya feel me? Warren

No ties, sounds good. Since being in California casual has been the rule of the day.

Warren, no concern from my perspective. I prefer shorts and T-shirt. Heleniak is having a suit tailored as I write this!

I love that it is the boys who are having this lengthy discussion about what to wear.  Way to go Suzy!  You guys always were a little more vain than the girls.

I try to avoid wearing a tie on formal nights on cruise ships, maybe a T shirt is to informal? I've seen T shirts with a tux print on the front though.

David Heleniak

OK, it's about time someone blew Grodin's cover!  The reason he wants lawyers (and even those of us who are recovering lawyers) to wear ties is in the hope that the many who have been aggrieved by the lawyer class may grab them and try to hang them by the neck.  Grodin will then try to impress one and all using such of his medical skills as remain, save the lawyers and impress the ladies.  Failing saving them, he will grab his cello and a few cohorts and perform Mozart's Requiem (Zucco, I will explain what the Requiem is to you later (as well as who Mozart was, don't want to mention this here for fear of embarrassing you)) at their funeral or memorial services.  That will not include me (a) because I will outlive Warren by at least 10 years and (b) now that I live in Austin, I will abide by Willie Nelson's guidance and ask people to roll me up and smoke me when the time comes.  In any event I will, of course, attend in white tie and tails.  It is our 50th after all!  By the way Scotty, don't expect any of your fellow Den 10ers to say hi after the slight of skipping over the greatest Cub Scout den in history for some lousy Boy Scout troop.

I think Heleniak's animadversion on me is actually a  subconscious screed against New Yorkers; he hass been banned from civilization and forced to live in Texas. A few days in the sympathetic air of St. Paul will clear his head and he will again be our amicus humani generis. All the best, Warren

The difference between a laundry and a lawyer is: if a laundry loses your shirt he will pay you. If a lawyer loses your shirt, he will take you to the laundry. Just saw that on the "joke of the day".

Forsythe.. An Imposing educator. . I remember Warren recommending that I do a Rennaissance report on Titian and this preference came from the fact that Titian painted nudes. I did the report but was disappointed that he painted PICTURES of nudes and they usually were candidates for Weight Watchers.. Still, a good call.

Thank you, Richard, for giving me, albeit belatedly, credit for something good that I did. Heleniak makes me empathize with Anthony: The evil men do lives after them, the good is interred with their bones. Or something like that.

Anyway, I am delighted to see Miss Forsythe remembered so fondly and with such appreciation. She was excellent. Zei Gesund, Warren

Jennifer Cutts (Zvi)

I remember Miss Forsythe requiring us to read a "classic" book for a report.  I chose

Otto of the Silver Hand.  My father said, "That is not a classic", not like "The Three Musketeers, or Black Beauty, or Pride & Prejudice."  My response, "Well, Miss Forsythe said it was a classic".  Who ever heard of this book except me?

Hello to All,

Been watching the message forum and it appears not that much has changed in 50 years. As for Warren, you may wear scrubs, David, you would look nice in your cub scout uniform. By the way David, bring your baseball card collection, we can trade when everyone falls asleep at 9pm. As for Den 10, if Groveland and Ramsey shared the same cub scout dens, then I remember the scout meetings at Sparky's house on Summit. Outside of that, not much before last Tuesday is still in the memory fold. See everyone soon.

ps.  Can someone hack into the yearbook pictures and burn mine? Thanks.

For Rick,

The average human being walks 900 miles a year and drinks 22 gallons of beer. Which means the average human gets 41 miles per gallon. Not Bad

for scott: that almost qualifies for "hybrid" status.
