I received Roger Forsberg's message about Laura a couple of days ago & was deeply saddened--shocked, i guess. I admitted to her recently that I'd had a huge crush on her at Groveland--when we were in maybe 6th grade? I remember being estatic when she chased me on the playground during recess. We had a laugh about it & said we'd talk about it at reunion.
Guess the lesson is that if you need to talk to someone, do it now!
I simply cannot believe my friend is gone. After talking to her almost daily for the past ten years, I feel like I lost a limb. She called me on Friday and on Saturday she was gone. I owe Laura a debt of gratitude for getting me involved in the Class of '63 Scholarship Committee, and I will continue in her honor, always looking for that student possessing the courage to address social injustice and change. That student will, going forward, be awarded the Laura Turner Scholarship designated in her honor. We often wrote in our yearbooks: "I will remember you always."
I was deeply saddened when I received the news. Laura's heart was an example of compassion in action. She was also filled with courage, even from a young age, and tirelessly fought against social injustice. She positively influenced not only her friends, but also the lives of many high school students, working to assist them in finding financial support to attend college. When we were young, Laura and I unexpectedly won a dance contest together, which we would joke about for years to come. As an adult, her dance card was always open to those in need. Laura, you will be missed.
Have been out of town, Returning to hear of our dear friend Lauras passing. I am sadden to loose such a dear friend and kind heart, We all will miss her. Lynn Belkin Goldman
I was stunned to see Laura's name listed in the In Memory section. Even though I moved away from Minnesota 45 years ago, I was so glad to hear from her when she called me about the reunion just a couple of months ago and we had the opportunity to catch up a little. It's such a tragedy.

I was so very sad to hear of Laura's passing. She was one of the people I looked forward to seeing at the reunion.
