I first met Mark at Highland Park Junior High School. He was very competitve in sports! I remember him challenging Lynn Schanke ( spelling ) in a one on one for basketball !! Lynn was a very aggressive girl athlete !! Things did not go well for Mark and he lamented that he was taken to the " cleaners " by Lynn. Rest in peace Mark---you were a great fellow student----Bob Salmonson

Mark and I both went to Immanuel Lutheran Church and spent time together in confirmation classes and Luther League as well as a biblical history class for senior high schoolers after confirmation. While I hadn't kept in touch with him, I saw him a few times over the years and always enjoyed our brief visits. What I remember most about Mark is that he was always a really nice, kind person, attributes I saw in his whole family. I'm grateful to have known him.

Mark & I went to school with each other from Mattocks School to Highland Park Jr High to Central.   When the 33rpm LP for West Side Story arrived he invited me to listen to this album on his family's hi-fi system (when these were more like pieces of furniture than electronic devices).   I was stunned by quality of the audio & the fact that one could hear two parts of the music coming from either end of the record player!

I'm pleased that Sonia Quarstad mentioned that Mark was a gentle, kind & pleasant person -- which he certainly was in my experience.
