A local product, Wood graduated from Boca Ciega High School, the University of South Florida and the University of Florida College of Medicine. She joined the Medical Examiner's Office in 1975 under Dr. John Shinner, then succeeded him in 1982. She was appointed to head the Florida Medical Examiners Commission.

I only remember that she never liked Florida or Bogie and only was here because of family conditions where she came down to live with her grandparents. She left Pinellas county under not so happy conditions.
