Joseph R. Barylski
GONE TO SOON...
Obituary
DECEASED July 19, 2007
Barylski, Joseph R.
Life Partner for 29 years, of Marvin J. Schilling;
son of the late Joseph and Olivia Barylski;
dear brother of Olivia 'Gus' (James) Mudd,
Matthew 'Harvey' (Nellie) Lane; dear uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Joseph graduated from Mercy High School in 1970.
He followed this with four years at the University of Missouri at Rolla,
majoring in computer sciences, while belonging to the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.
Most of Joseph's adult work career was spent as a computer programmer, spending the last 21 years working with a wonderful group of people at the U.S. Postal Data Center in St. Louis.
Joseph met his life-partner, Marvin, in 1978 through a mutual friend, Jay Martin. In the early morning of July 4th 1978 Joseph and Marvin sat on the grass under the south leg of the Arch and watched the sunrise on their life together. This day became their Anniversary Day. Joseph and Marvin have spent 17 of their 29 years with their special canine friend,
SnoPi. Joseph and Marvin loved to travel and managed to visit most places in the U.S., and many others the world over.
Joe died, after a month long battle, on the evening of July 19th while a gorgeous sunset played over the St. Louis area.
He passed away only seconds after a group of his friends and relatives finished saying a prayer, while holding hands, and his hands, while in a 'circle of friendship and lasting love', surrounding his bed.
Some said they heard a dog's bark at the same time as well. In addition to the date of his death (7-19) adding to 17, and his year of birth (1952) adding to 17, 17 was the number of years SnoPi had spent with Joseph and Marvin.
Flowers and plants are not discouraged, however, contributions to the Wellness Community of Greater St. Louis for Cancer Support, at 1058 Old Des Peres Rd. 63131 is encouraged.
Joe and his family extend special thanks to all the nurses and staff of the Siteman Cancer Center of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Joseph will not be missed because as he will never be gone from our hearts and spirits.
Services: Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thurs., July 26 with a Memorial Service at 6:29 p.m. Thurs. at COLLIER'S Funeral Home, 3400 North Lindbergh Blvd. (Bridgeton, MO).
