Hello Michelle,

Karin and I recently re-connected on facebook. She metioned that I missed the first reunion planning meeting and shared this website. Well done, what a great idea. I'd love to be involved with the planning or help in any way that I could. If the reunion is still in the early planning stages, I'm guessing a venue hasn't been selected. With that being said, I happen to work for Infinity and Ovation yacht Chrters, as one of the charter specilists...I can get employee discounts as well as additional courtesies. I think the Ovation would be a great place to hold our reunion, not because I work there...but, it is a very unique venue and i believe it would be a great draw for a faster response on RSVP's. I'd love to invite the entire committee to see the vessel and discuss the details further. In the mean time, take a look at the website www.infinityandovation.com I swear this isn't a sales pitch!!! LOL!

I couldn't make the meeting, but am also willing to help with whatever I can! The yacht idea is unique! Anywhere by the lake would be nice too. About how many people attended the 10 year? I remember the cost was about $80 a person back then?

This website is awesome! Great job Michelle! I would be happy to help in anyway on the reunion as well! Let me know what I can do to help. I like the idea of the boat. I am still having a hard time with the idea of a 20th reunion - can we really be that old?

Karin,

We talked about having it in October or November. I also think it will depend on what we can find and at what price.

Michele- The website is great! Thanks for setting it up for everyone.
Jen- I like the yacht idea, is the boat anchored or moving, clubhouse, etc? Just wondering the quezy factor? On a scale from 10 being Disney Cruise line(lotsa FUN!) down to 1 being Salmon charter on Lake Michigan (lotsa CHUM!)
Reunion Committee- Sorry I am not close enough to make meetings. If you need to brainstorm or get other thoughts, maybe you can open a conference line or Skype. If you need additional help please let me know.

I was very saddened to see we already have a In Memory section in use. Maybe we could honor our classmates that have passed with their Senior pictures framed and displayed somewhere at the reunion check in or entry way.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback. The reunion committee is working hard on finding a great place for the reunion that will accomodate our group. We are looking at lots of different options (including Jennifer's cruise suggestion) and welcome all other suggestions as well. We are planning on having it this fall on a Saturday evening but we haven't selected an exact date yet.

Thanks!!

Katie -

Great question! The yacht would be cruising. I would give us a 1 on the quezy factor rating. We draw six feet on lake St. Clair moving a "brisk" 10 knots (approx. 10 miles per hour)...you won't feel a thing! Unless we cross paths with a freighter, you may feel a small ripple...We never have anyone get seasick, the horizon is always in your view!

An evening on a yacht sounds like it a wonderfull experience. With a 20 yr. reunion I am assuming there may be some libations sonsumed during the evening.
That being said, with so many having families to look out for, it may be worth looking into a location which will be able to provide overnight accomedations.
Thanks to all who are working to make this a success and the joyous occasion that it will be.

P.S. This site is soo cool, especially for us out of towners.

Michelle, Great site to get everyone together:) Looking forward to seeing everyone again! I also think a location with a hotel would be best. That way if you want to drink you dont have to drive home or stick your spouse with the job of driving home. The cruise sounds interesting but will it be too cold in the fall? Anyway, what ever we do I am looking forward to getting together.

Michelle, GREAT job on the website. My husband wanted to know if his graduating class had one! (He's Utica-86)
I'd love to help out any way I can. I agree with the idea of having it somewhere with overnight accomodations. Has anyone put out the idea of doing something with the whole family? An informal picnic, along with a nice evening out for the adults?

My $.02
I followed the 1988 class reunion group that they setup on Yahoo. They went to Derek Diaz's bar in downtown Utica the night before. They talked about doing a picnic the day of reunion, but I do not think that panned out. They had the reunion at that hall on Van Dyke and 17mile...forget the name. About 100 people showed up. More events the better for those coming from out of town.

Hi All!!
Thanks for all your comments and ideas! We are working to find a perfect place for the reunion and hope to have an announcement on date and location soon. Keep encouraging people to sign up on the website!

Thanks!
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Great website. My husband recently had his 20 reunion, and because they didn't get a huge response, due to ticket prices and the economy, they held a pre-reunion get together at a bar a week beforehand. It was a HUGE success. A ton of people showed up, and the bar had $1 beers, so it was a cheap night, and you were able to see the ones that might not have attended the official reunion. I'm sure we can find a local bar / club to accomodate us on any given night if reservations were made.
