Sheila Dotson Davis, chief chest radiologist with Westchester Medical Center and a longtime resident of Scarsdale, died in an automobile accident on May 11, 2009. She was 54. Sheila was born in Manchester, Connecticut to Lillian Ota and Floyd Whitney Dotson, both professors at the University of Connecticut. She graduated from Harvard College in 1976, receiving her degree magna cum laude in Biochemistry, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1980. After an internship at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, she completed a residency and fellowship at New York Hospital in diagnostic radiology. She practiced for many years with the chest radiology division at New York Hospital, where she was also a clinical professor of radiology at Cornell Medical School, the author of numerous articles and a peer reviewer for leading medical publications. In 2003, she moved to her current position at Westchester Medical Center. Outside of her work, she was known for her gourmet cooking and love of reading and travel. She is survived by her three sons, Evan, Gordon and Andrew, from her former marriage to Douglas R. Davis, and by her companion David Klath. Services for family and friends are to be held at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale at 10am on Thursday, May 14. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations in her name to the scholarship fund at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City or to Westchester Medical Center.
