John Harmon Cox — age 74, of Thorn Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 19, 2026.

He loved hunting, fishing, family, friends and every child he met. He was a teacher of many, and loved to share his knowledge of gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid storyteller and loved to bend the truth for the purpose of entertainment.

John was preceded in death by his father, James William Cox; his mother, Virginia Stiles Cox; his brother, James William Cox Jr.; his sister, Alma Jane Cox Raleigh; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Janice Lee Cox; his sister, Patricia Williams; his children, Danny Cox (Amber), Sammy Cox (Amanda), Kenny Cox (Laura), Kati Cox (Christian Clevenger); his grandchildren, Krista Wilson, Kaiden Wilson (Valeria), Lily Cox, Cicly Cox, Carolina Cox, Grady Cox, Eleanor Clevenger, and soon to be granddaughter, Wilder Cox; special nieces, Stephanie Harkleroad and Julie Harris; also many special great nieces and nephews; and his boys, Curtis Lowe and Abraham.

Pallbearers will include Danny Cox, Sammy Cox, Kenny Cox, Christian Clevenger, Eddie Shackelford, David Harkleroad and Zane Harkleroad.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Bridges Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Bobby Emert officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:15 AM on Wednesday at Thorn Grove Cemetery for an 11:30 AM Graveside Service.
