I think our Northlawn School eighth grade teacher, Miss Ryan (bless her heart, her dentures slipped briefly during class one day), was his aunt. We loved Miss Ryan--she was a terrific soul!
Bill and I became great friends at SHS. He was a Staff SGT. in the 101st Airborne and served in Viet Nam without injury. He called me in Chicago to pick him up at the airport upon his return. I did and we had quite a beer fest. Bill stumbled and fell down a flight of stairs during the party..he hurt his arm and we had a PURPLE HEART ceremony for him. He lived with his mom, his grandma, and his sister Barb. Barb called me in Houston to tell me Bill had died of a heart attack.
That was in the early 80's. He left a wife and 3 young children. Billy was a tough kid, good athlete, and always laughed at my jokes.
