Connie and I became acquainted in junior high at Oakland. She always had that great smile and was soft spoken and funny at the same time. We became closer friends in high school and worked in the school library before school hours in the morning. What fun we would have stamping the books in and out checking to see who was reading what. Sometimes I would go home with her after school and we would study together at the kitchen table. When we were seniors we were going to Chicago on a bus trip with Mrs. Brix (ol' steel eyes) and the business class. She was going to pick me up and had to come in the house to wake me to be able to make the bus on time. I forgot to set the alarm.
We drifted apart after graduation and I was shocked to learn of her death. She had married and was pregnant with their first child. Her sister was in the car with her when it hit a bridge abutment and she was killed.
Marilyn Bauer and I attended her funeral and cried thru the whole thing. One of the first of our class to leave us. God Bless you Connie.
Connie and I became friends in high school and remained friends after ....I was in the hospital when she passed...I had a little boy at seven monthes and he died two days after delivery..It was a devastating time for me and my family..I always loved Connie and always will remember her..The first trip I made after recovery was to visit her grave.
Connie was a terrific person and was a bridesmaid at my wedding. (The first one.) Connie was married to Ron Girard of Cornell, Il when she passed away in the late '60's. She was five months pregnant when she had a car accident which took her life as well as her unborn child and a two year old son of a friend. It was tragic. I miss her still today.
