John Maier Jr. 1981-2006

STREATOR -- John E. Maier Jr., 25, of Streator died Thursday, Nov. 16, in Fall River Township near Grand Ridge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Streator, with Msgr. Jerome Ham will officiating.

Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Solon, Baker and Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m., led by Rev. James Rickey of St. Patrick's Church, in Dwight.

Mr. Maier was born April 25, 1981 in Streator to John and Tamara (Rodrick) Maier Sr. He had been employed as an emergency medical technician for Marseilles Ambulance and was a bartender at the Parkway Club in Streator. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

He was formerly married to Stephanie Martin whom he married Aug. 27, 2005. She survives in Streator.

He also is survived by his father, John Sr. of Streator; his mother Tamara of Dwight; a brother, Nick of Pontiac; his sister, Allison of Pontiac; maternal grandmother, Marge Rodrick of Streator; maternal grandfather and step grandmother, Thomas (Marcella "Mick") Rodrick of Streator and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Alice Maier.

Pallbearers will be Cory Kelly, Ryan Obenhin, Nathan Price, Ron Ondek, Jose "Pepe" Granados and Paul Westermeyer.

Memorials may be directed to Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
