Wenona – Barry Brent Barnickel, 42, of Wenona, died at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Trinity Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wenona. The Rev. Stanley Deptula will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wenona.

Pallbearers will be a son, Tyler Barnickel; brother-in-law, Brad Liegel and Larry Longbons; and Craig Hook, Dan Peterson and Jeff Fulkerson.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Elias Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 28, 1960, in Chicago, he was the son of Clarence “Barney” and Betty (Ansteth) Barnickel.

Surviving are a son, Tyler Barnickel of Wenona; a daughter, Staci Barnickel of Minneapolis, Minn; a sister, Barbara (Mrs. Brad) Liegel of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1978.

For the past 25 years, he had been employed by U.S. Foodservice as a delivery driver. He was co-owner of the Bowlers Edge at Bowl Mor Lanes, Streator.

He was a member of Teamsters Local #722, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #645, Streator Men’s Bowling Association and the Chicago Cubs Bleacher Bums.
