
Ronald L. Essman, 64, of Streator passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 21st at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 10:15 A.M.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Streator.
Born May 8, 1960 in Streator he was the son of Louis and Dorothy (Ballock) Essman.
Raised in Streator he attended Oakland Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1978.
He is survived by his father, Louis Essman of Streator; also surviving are aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ron worked for Thatcher’s Glass Company as a machine operator from 1976 until the time the factory closed. He later worked as a carpenter. The last 10 years he worked for St. Michael Archangel Church as a cemetery worker.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was a long time and active member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790. He served as a past Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator for the Council. He was a 4th Degree member of the Streator Assembly 2109 of the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Honor Guard for the 4th Degree. He was very active with the Knights of Columbus at the state level. He served as District Marshall, District Deputy, Past Chapter President and Diocesan Coordinator for the Peoria Diocese.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
