Candace “Kay” S. Flanigan, 64, of Streator passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at the ARC of Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2025 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Streator. Pallbearers will be Ryan, Drake, and Katelyn Flanigan, Robert Million, David Jaime and Matt Aaron.

Born April 1, 1960 in Pontiac, she was the daughter of William and Marilyn (Swift) Million. She married Edward J. (E.J.) Flanigan on November 22, 1997 at Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Eagle Township.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Ryan Flanigan of Streator, Drake Flanigan of Streator; a daughter, Katelyn Flanigan of Streator; several nieces and nephews and her cat, Amaretto.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vickie Jaime; brothers, William and Mark Million.

Kay attended Northlawn School and graduated from Streator High School, Class of 1978. She also graduated from Illinois Valley Community College with an Associates Degree in early Childhood Education.

Over the years, Kay worked in various positions at Streator Unlimited and was a caregiver. She also assisted her son Drake with his newspaper routes.

She was a former member of the Streator Jaycees and a member of Engle Lane Theatre, where she helped backstage. She also assisted with recent productions, starring individuals with disabilities. Kay and her husband were among the founding members of Light Up Streator and they both worked side by side on the annual fundraising raffle for the Streator Fourth of July and as it evolved into Streator Fest.

Kay loved attending her children’s sporting events, which included dance, tennis, soccer, basketball and others. She also enjoyed taking her dogs to Dog Shows, gardening, and traveling on cruise ships. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
