Anthony W. “Tony” Harcar III, 42, of Clover Court in Grand Ridge, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Church. The Rev. Thomas Shaw, of St. Mary’s Church in Grand Ridge, will officiate. Music will be provided by soloist Joe Hughes, flutist Michelle Batkiewicz, and organist Sharon Hatzer.
Burial will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery in Streator. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Chestnut, Paul Cinnamon, Joe Goolsby, Gene Lock, Ray Maubach, Jim Miller, Mike O’Connell, Mick Pierson, Mark Richmond and Jeff Vogel.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Solon & Baker Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 8:45 p.m.
Born Aug. 23, 1959, in Streator, he was the son of Anthony W. and Donna L. (Armstrong) Harcar. He married Lynn Gura on Aug. 6, 1983, at St. Casimir’s Church. She survives.
Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Anthony W. (Marjorie) Harcar of Streator, his mother and stepfather, Donna L. (Mrs. Maurie) Weber of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; daughters Becca and Breann Harcar, both at home, a son, Garin Anthony Harcar at home; sisters, Kristine (Mrs. David) Hagen of Aberdeen, Wash., and Cindy (Mrs. Jeff) Hardgrove of Streator; a brother, Ronald (Carrie) Harcar of Streator; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Schultz of Streator; and his in-laws, Walter and Clara Gura of Streator.
He was employed by Exelon (LaSalle Nuclear Station) since 1983. He lived in Grand Ridge and Streator all of his life.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Grand Ridge; an honorary member of the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department; IBEW Local 15; a longtime board member of the Streator Youth Baseball and Streator Youth Football organizations; a former basketball coach at Grand Ridge Grade School; and was a member of the Streator Township High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Memorials may be directed to his family for their children’s education fund.
