Richard J. “Rick” Martin, 46, of 1714 Highland Place, Streator, died at 8:11 a.m. Thursday Dec. 29, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon, Monday at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator with the Rev. Eugene Radosevich officiating.
Visitation will be from 9-11:45 a.m. Monday at Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
He was born Oct. 25, 1959 in Streator to Stephen L. “Sting” Martin and Eileen Solomon. He married Debra Araujo on Oct. 4, 1986 at St. Stephen’s Church in Streator.
He is survived by his wife; his mother, Eileen (Max) Mehrhoff of Streator; daughters, Autumn (Paul) Wanamaker of Orlando, Fla. and Kathryn “Katie” Martin of Streator; a son, Stephen R. Martin of Streator; two grandchildren, Ashley and Meghan Wanamaker of Orlando, Fla., a brother, Robert of Streator; sisters, Janet (Mark) Antolik of Streator and Julie (Bill) Kauth of Streator; mother-in-law, Rose L. (the late Gilbert) Araujo of Streator; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Joan) Araujo of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen L. “Sting” Martin; and brothers, Stephen and Donald Martin.
Born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School, Class of 1977. He worked as a concrete contractor for his father and later his own company Streator Concrete Services, Inc.
He also owned and operated S&K Car Wash (formerly Retoff’s car wash).
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and the Usher’s Club at the church. He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790. He was also a member of the Lazy Acres and Sandy Ford Sportsman Club.
Pallbearers will be Ron Harcharik, Brian Fredericks, Mark Garrison, Ron Heusel, Mark Antolik, Rocky Reynolds and Donald “Potsy” Smith.
Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s School.
