Jerry J. Simpson, 26, of 618 Powell St., died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday following an accident at Byron Drag Strip, Ogle County.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with a mass of Christian burial at St. Casimir’s Church. 

Burial will be at St. Casimir’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Solon Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Born July 26, 1960, he was the son of Lyle and Irene (Gura) Simpson.

Surviving are his parents of Streator; and three brothers, Dale Simpson of Cornell, Daniel Simpson of Naperville and Terry Simpson of Streator.

A lifetime resident of Streator, Simpson was employed by Peabody Myers. He was a 1978 graduate of Streator High School and was a member of St. Casimir’s Church and the National Hot Rod Association.
