Dennis Shelton

November 24, 1970 – January 5, 2015

Obituary:
Dennis Ray Shelton, the son of Harry and Bettie Shelton of Casscoe, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 5, 2015 at the young age of 44 at his home in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Dennis, the middle son of three, was welcomed to Heaven by his grandparents E.V. “Punk” and Johnny Shelton and Gus and Jessie Ross. He was also preceded in death by his loving uncles, William Earl Funderburk, Eddie Ross and Roger Dean Ross.

Dennis leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted parents; his pride and joy, his daughter, Jessica “Jessi” Shelton; brothers, Doug and wife, Maxine of Casscoe; and nieces, Camryn and Caitlyn and Jason Shelton of Stuttgart; aunts, Treva Shelton Bailey (Pete) of Casscoe and Julie Ross Morgan (Bruce) of Clarendon; and uncles, James “Bubby” Shelton (Teresa), Billy Shelton (Cindy), Billy Ross and Johnny West (Darlene), all of Casscoe; the mother of his daughter, Tami Shelton Hartley; his special friend, Tammey Buell Kannada; and a host of loving cousins, special friends, and extended family.

Dennis gave his life to GOD at a young age at a church camp and was raised Baptist and was a member of the Grand Prairie United Methodist Church in Stuttgart. He spent his life sharing, giving, laughing, loving and helping anybody in need. He will be remembered for his generous acts of kindness, contagious smile, laugh and his unconditional love for his family.

A graduate of Stuttgart High School, Dennis grew up on the White River and loved skiing and spending weekends on the river. As a child, he and his friends spent many hours riding their 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers and motorcycles, most of which pieced together from “junk” which led to his love of mechanics. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hunting and fishing and had a life-long love of working on old cars and worked as an auto mechanic for many years and was the Construction Manager of Shrimp Basket in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Services:
A celebration of life will be held 2pm, Monday, January 12 at Hunters Chapel Methodist Church in Casscoe with visitation prior to the service at 1pm, with Bro. Dennis Ingle officiating. Interment to follow at Hunters Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Larson, Kevin Winfrey, Wyatt Shelton, Chris Tipton, Jason Barnett, Jeff Pearman, Donald White, and Danny White.
