Those were the days!! Posted Thursday, November 17, 2011 11:01 AM I remember when we were in Form 6P (Bookkeeping Room) we used to have all our lockers at the back of the room. Behind the lockers were a few stools which were kept there for those who wanted to skip a particular class. I remember sitting there once during Bio (Mrs Mishra) with Lucy Savu and Kini Sarai, eating Kini's lunch, and Lusi kept waving the broom about in the air when Mrs Mishra was writing on the blackboard ... oilei, good thing we didn't get caught, lol!!!! I also remember a few of us going out through the window when Mr Lal came into the classroom to take us for Maths ..... lol!!! I'm definitely sure it included Lucy, Cleo and Vini!!!!! Once during lunch time, Litia Loloma, Joy Nainoca and myself, waited for the teacher on duty to go back into school and we ran across to catch the Nasese bus into town. We just got off at the bus-stand and sat there watching people. We caught the bus back went to Litia's cousin's house in Richards Road to look for food and then took a leisurely walk back to school. On our way to school, who should come by in her car ... Mrs Mailekai. She gave us a lift to school and on the way we got a good telling off from her but good thing she didn't report on us to Mr Singh. Thinking of it now ... I can't believe I did those things during school days ... my goodness!!!!!! |

RE: Those were the days!! Posted Friday, October 26, 2012 11:03 AM Hellowww, Kalo - seriously. We looked like butter wouldn't melt in our mouths which is why the teachers never believed we could get up to so much mischief. But, truthfully, we wouldn't have it any other way because its made us the people we are today. And of course, if by any chance someone wanted to be goody-goody, pretty soon they would be feeling left out and end up having to join the crowd. I remember one day when the whole Form 5N (and I mean all inclusive) decided to spend two periods in Century theatre watching a movie that no one really wanted to watch but the show of solidarity is a fond memory. Yes, that would be Mrs Mailekai - putting up with our nonsense because she knew that we were not really the delinquent kind but we needed to rebel every now & then to show that we were acclimatised SGS people!! Also, reputation was a big thing in those days - especially when we had two other Suva schools competing for supremacy. And, in keeping with our reputation, we carried on with the tradition - stepping class to hang out on battery hill; catching the Nasese bus during a period when we didn't do the homework and knew we were going to get picked on because that particular teacher just loved to pick on us; stepping through the back gate to Marou Road to just hang out; going with the whole class to watch a movie...... All good memories and it was great times indeed. |
