Jim Oliver

Jim Oliver, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 15, 2005. Jim and his twin sister Joy Roberts, were born on December 3, 1938 in Napanee, Ontario to Fred and Jean Oliver (nee McIlwaine), joining his older sister Anne. Jim resided in the Sydenham, Ontario area working as a carpenter and high school teacher for 32 years. He married Margaret Rosemary Davis on October 9, 1965 making their home in the Harrowsmith and Sydenham, Ontario areas until moving to Olds, Alberta in 2001. Jim was a great outdoorsman, avid hunter and fisherman who taught hunter safety for over 30 years, sharing his knowledge and experience. Jim was predeceased by his mother, father and both his sisters. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret; daughter Theresa; son Andrew (Marlene); grandchildren Nicola, Darren, Catherine, Katie, Lindsey, Megan and Keaghan; great-grandchildren Madison and Alex as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Word of Life Church, Olds with Pastor Tim Bowen officiating. A Memorial Service To Celebrate the Life of the late James A. Oliver (formerly of Sydenham, Ont.) will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 2 p.m. in Sydenham High School Auditorium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Compassion Canada, Ducks Unlimited or Olds Hospital Palliative Care Unit. As a tribute to Jim Oliver, a tree will be planted in the Heartland Tree Memorial Park, Olds.
