Passed away peacefully with family by his side at Trillium Center on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the age of 73. Predeceased by his spouse Carolyn (Northmore), parents Nicholas and Florence Hegarty. Loved and respected father of Theresa Melcher (Steve), Mark Hegarty (Annette) and Lisa Quintal (Marc). Affectionately known as “Papa“ to grandchildren Philip, Mathew, Amanda, Courtney, Stephanie and Marisa. Philip is survived by his brothers Pat Hegarty (Ann), Ned Hegarty (Barb) and Paul Hegarty. He is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Resting at James Reid Funeral Home, family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00,pm. Monday January 23rd,from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Father Leo Byrne officiating. Interment Cataraqui Cemetery, with a reception to follow at James Reid Funeral Home Reception Centre. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations will be accepted to the Limestone District School Board Charitable Trust in memory of R. E. Philip Hegarty.
