George!
I will think of some T-Town stuff and I am really tripping that you said Bowling Night. We should start our own geriatric league. Teresa can design our shirts! Hurry back from England! |

RE: Anyone up for the dancing? Posted Monday, August 24, 2009 12:13 PM Well, you know.. I just want people to be making an informed decision about they're prospective dance destination may be. The most difficult part was the formatting. Anyway, having a jolly old time in Old England. The father in law is great -- helping out with all the translations. You'd think since we all speak the same language it'd be easy to communicate. It's the cadence and different definitions that make it difficult. Anyway, having a blast here. Enjoying the sights & the people. They're all very polite here, even when you can tell that they don't want to be. ; ) 'K. Signing off.. going off to grab a bite & a pint! -- geo

ha ha! George, Liam was just saying that, there are many words from England that do not match ours. LIke I think the word for car trunk is banger! what! for irritating it is "bird" and we all know that "bloody" is a bad word just like "shag" ! so, funny that you are learning about those. Perhaps we should test our vocabulary from Europe, at one of the dance locations suggested? So glad you had a wonderful trip! tell me all about it when we meet for the photo books! yes one more thing to do! |

RE: Anyone up for the dancing? Posted Saturday, September 12, 2009 10:34 AM Actually, the trunk is the boot, the hood is the bonnet. I only heard bird in reference to women, as in when I asked the bartender in St Ive's about Pimm's. He said he wouldn't serve it to me because it's a bird drink. Yep, I had a blast! I think I could easily live there. The pub-goers were fun.. I loved when they figured out that I am American, which happened the second after I said my first few words. At the Dolphin, also in St Ive's, I walked up to order. After I placed the order, the woman taking it asked where in America I am from. Of course I had to say "what makes you think I'm from America?" which got a laugh. She said "Well, it's not from the accent you don't have." Good times! I walked a ton! One day I walked for hours and miles, finding myself in Earl's Court, eating and drinking. I took the tube back [that's the subway, called the Underground]. Another night, I walked down the street my hotel is on for about five blocks, took a left & found myself right back in Earl's Court! I thought I walked tens of miles!! Cracked me up!! Anyway, it's also good to be back home. It was great to see Scott at the airport when he picked me up & Tonka was excited to see me when we got home; he likes to have the pack together again. Lots & lots of pictures are up on my facebook account, so if you haven't seen them, check it out!
