Wallace R Drake Teacher

Wallace Drake was born in Eureka, California, July 18, 1907 and a few months later his parents moved to Sacramento, where he remained until he moved to Tacoma in 1918. Wallace died September 18, 2000 in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1930 and was founder of Delta Pi Omicron Fraternity, which eventually became a Chapter of the national fraternity of Theta Chi. He did graduate work at the University of Washington. He first started teaching at Langley High School in Langley, Washington. He came to Lincoln High School in 1934, teaching Biology and Zoology and for 25 years was head of the Science Department. After retiring from Lincoln he went to Henry Foss High School as a semi-volunteer, in the science department, for an additional 15 years. Wallace was a Navy veteran of WWII and served in the South Pacific. He is survived by a cousin Richard C. Allard of San Diego, California. Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Piper-Morley Mellinger Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 am. at Piper-Morley Mellinger Funeral Chapel, 5436 So.
