Gary Holt, 19, Victim of Viet Nam War​   Tacoma News Tribune, Tacoma WA, Tuesday, 28 June 1966)                                                                                                                                                                       A 19 year old soldier from Tacoma, who wrote from Viet Nam that he "couldn't wait for spring" to get home to his bride of six months, was killed by a bomb fragment Friday, three days before she received two letters from him, along with word of his death.  The letters were from Pfc. Gary R Holt, serving wiht Company A of the 1st Cavalry Divsion, to the girl he married in Tacoma last 23 Dec (1965), a month after he entered the Army.  She is the former MarlenSecrist of Tacoma.  The soldier had left for Viet Nam 24 April (1966).        He was born in Aberdeen, grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 1964.  He attended Olympic College in Bremerton and worked several years at the Tradewell, Inc. store at 5605 Pacific Ave.   One of the letters received by his wife contained a picture of him.  "He was so fine, so nice," she said.  "All I can say is that I love him."   She is living at 1111 So Highland st.     Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Holt, of Olympia, and two brothers, Tim of Olympia and Jack Jr., of Loncoln NE.  ...........(
