Richard Hammerstrom, now retired, is an Emmy and Telly award winning Television Director, Editor and Producer and has worked on numerous documentaries, special events, music performance and concert programs. His network credits include PBS, CBS and NBC. Additionally, his work has been exhibited in New York at the American Museum of Natural History, The Toronto International Film Festival, in Seattle at the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival and in Portland, Oregon at the Portland Art Museum’s Northwest Film and Video Festival.

Richard Hammerstrom earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television from Washington State University and has done graduate studies in History, Political Science and Education at San Francisco State University and Portland State University. The primary focus of his work is concert and symphonic music performance and has worked with Music Directors: James DePreist, Murry Sidlin, Norman Leyden, Helmut Rilling and Jacob Avsholomov and Soloists: Arlene Auger, Joanne Ottley, Raymond Bazemore, Gordon MacRae and Billy Taylor & "The Billy Taylor Trio."

A Washington State native, Richard now makes his home in the Northwest. During his career of more than forty years, Hammerstrom has lived or worked in San Francisco, New York, Seattle as well as Portland.

Richard is also a retired faculty member at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, where he taught Sailing and Navigation.
