
Lisa Engebretson Smith 54, of Grayson, GA and formerly of Lutz, FL passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 24, 2016 after a four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Lisa was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalind Engebretson. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Scott Smith; daughter, Meagan Smith of Grayson, GA; son, Zachary Smith, of Land O’ Lakes, FL; father, Gordon Engebretson, of Land O’ Lakes, FL; brother, Daniel Engebretson (wife, Kim) of Odessa, FL; sister Laura Fleming (husband, Mark) of Lutz, FL. In addition, “Aunt” Lisa is survived by a niece and four nephews including Julia Engebretson, Alexander Engebretson, Conner Fleming, Collin Fleming and Kiel Fleming.
Lisa was born in Ames, Iowa on March 20, 1962. She moved with her family to Tampa, FL in 1969. Lisa graduated from Tampa’s Chamberlain High School and Hillsborough Community College. In 1980, Lisa met her future husband Scott, while they both worked at Publix in Carrollwood and married three years later. After her college graduation, Lisa worked for a number of prominent law firms in Tampa as a legal secretary. Once Lisa and Scott started their family, she left full-time employment and began working at Van Dyke Church in Lutz, FL. Lisa later returned to full-time employment and worked as a Judicial Aid for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Hillsborough County, FL. Lisa and Scott moved to Grayson, GA in 2011 and both very much enjoyed southern living in north Georgia and their community in North Forke Plantation. Lisa served as a Doorholder and attended Passion City Church in Atlanta.
Family Visitation and Viewing is scheduled for Monday, November 28, 2016 at 6:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service and Reception at 7:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, 3705 Highway 78 West, Snellville, GA. A second Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life Service and Reception at 12:00 PM at Van Dyke Church, 17030 Lakeshore Road, Lutz, FL. The family extends a special thanks to the kind and gentle care provided by Suburban Hematology-Oncology & Center for Cancer Care of Gwinnett Medical Center and Crossroads Hospice. Proceeds from this fund will be used to continue Lisa’s “Lovin’ Hugs” Hat Ministry, hats for cancer patients who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatment.
