Lynn Marie Ruse

RUSE, Lynn Marie 48, passed away on Aug. 31, 2013, in Manhattan, NY, after a nine month struggle with lung cancer. She lived half of her life in Tampa, graduating from Chamberlain High School and the University of South Florida, as well as earning a Professional Diploma (in dance notation) from the Laban Centre in London and an MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts when she moved to New York. Lynn Marie was co-director of the dance company FREEFALL and often performed in Tampa, as recently as last November at the Ybor campus of HCC. In the past she has choreographed for various theater performances, including Mac Wellman's "Why the Y in Ybor," as well as presenting her choreography at the Florida Dance Festival, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Gorilla Theatre, and at various venues in New York, Chicago, Toronto, New Orleans, and elsewhere. Lynn Marie made a living by teaching dance in many schools in the five boroughs of New York as a member of the Lincoln Center "Artist in the Schools" program and by teaching yoga privately and at the Yale Club. She traveled widely, including trips to India to study yoga, and had many friends throughout the world. She is survived by her brother, Travis George Ruse; two nieces, Hope Charlotte Ruse and Eva Winifred Ruse; her mother, Lori Ruse-Dietrich; and her step father, Richard Dietrich; as well as her loving partner, Toby Billowitz who faithfully cared for her during her illness. She was preceded in death in 2011 by her father, George Ruse. Very sad.  Remember Lynn as a kind person and pretty girl.  Wish I would have known her better.

Lynn Marie was always a kind person and knew what she wanted in life at a very young age.   She was very talented.  You will be missed.
